Brokejaw Ranch
Elsewhere, Madison rides down a road in a military humvee and their envoy. She turns off their metal music. They arrive and find out Jake hasn't yet. Madison and Nick are taken out of the truck. They formulate a plan to protect themselves from these people. Madison tells him to hug her and directs his hands to the gun in her waist band. She's going to stop anyone who gets in their way.
At the hotel, Strand removes a bullet from a young man's leg. Later, he sits on his own, looking out the window. Elaina rushes him to a womn who is having a baby. Everyone looks to him to deliver it and threaten violence if he does not. Hector vouches for Strand, though.
Madison and Nick debate whether or not they should stay here. Nick wants to leave in a hurry. After Nick walks away, a man approaches Madison at the fence with coffee. He tells her that the helicopter sets down if there is weather. He asks her if she thinks Travis would have hijacked the helicopterand she insists he wouldn't before dumping out the coffee. She is insulted that he would ask but he says it is only because his son and goddaughter were on it. The man turns his attention to Nick and welcomes them to Brokejaw Ranch. Nick is reluctant to enter, insisting it is not safe.
Later, the man gives Madison and Nick a tour of the ranch, explaining that the community was prepped for the apocalypse. He says that Troy was protecting his men, having heard his side of it, and says he is building a new nation which is actually very imperfect but insists it is the safest place to live and they should be grateful. They get a cabin and nick yells out, "His son's a murderer!" Madison wants to make due in this community. Nick is feeling the guilt for Luciana's injury and her people who died. Madison insists she wants to save everybody but needs Nick's help. He storms out though, ready to see how many of these people are sharpening their knives.

Alicia and Jake sit by a fire with another woman. She takes watch. She is worried about her people being around his brother and he assures her they can control him. Troy has always been dangerous. She can relate to dangerous brothers. Jake's friend whistles to alert them of danger nearby, prompting him to stomp out the fire. He quietly follows the noise with a gun drawn, hearing some bushes moving around before falling down a small cliff. Using a flashlight, Jake finds his gun, and hears the sounds a zombie eating someone. Nearby, he sees a couple of walkers chowing and ends up fighting them. He's losing until Alicia saves his life by shooting them down. All of this is before Jake realizes his friend had been eaten and asks for the gun to put her down.
At the hotel, Strand's is handed a bottle of liquor and he's covered in blood. The people with him are ready to help him continue the lie about being a doctor in an effort to protect themselves but they kick him out, sending him out on foot. Hector insists he treat one more person before leaving by convincing a woman to eat. Strand enters a room with a sandwich. It smells horrible. He calls out for her but hears no response. Walking further into the room, he finds a mannequin but is caught from behind by the woman who stabbed him in Season 2. She apologizes for stabbing him. He opens the door to let some air into the room. He preaches stories of hope to her and she comes around to it. He is going to leave this place and has somewhere in mind. She offers him a box which was supposed to be a wedding gift. He thanks her before, she does the same for him, and walks off the balcony to her death. Strand is surprised.
In the wild, Jake and Alicia continue their survival efforts. He is holding onto the loss of his friend. She tells him Luciana is unconscious. He says they'll carry her. They get ready to go as he realizes this world is terrible.

At the ranch, a guard spots Alicia and Jake carying Luciana. They rush into the gate where Alicia hugs Madison. She asks where Travis is and Alicia has to tell her that he didn't make it. Both of them break down. Nick finds Luciana and tries to wake her up. Troy is quick to say that Luciana won't make it and wants to put her down. He orders Nick to move aside, so he does, but then offers to do it himself. Nick gets the gun and stares down at Luciana before pointing it at Troy. Everyone draws their guns on him. Nick orders Luciana be allowed inside. Troy's father steps between the two men. He offers to let Luciana in if she has a pulse. Nick hands over the gun and Luciana is escorted to the infirmary.
Madison takes some time to be by herself. Jeremiah Otto spots her throwing up by a tree and consoles her. He wants to make sure she isn't a threat to the people around her or herself. He really came to ask her to sign for the gun she took earlier. She signs and he tells her he is sorry for her loss.
Nick comforts Alicia back at the ranch. She breaks down into tears in her brother's arms.
At the hotel, Strand swiftly sneaks out in a Maserati. "My style and my color," he says before driving away in it.
Madison has a cigarette as Alicia approaches with Nick. They close the door and enter the room. She insists she is okay. Madison tells them, "We're going to stay here. We're going to make it our home, even if we have to take it over." She says it is their fate. "Travis died getting here," she said. She wants to know everything about how Travis died.
