Avengers: Age Of Ultron hit theaters this weekend and millions of people experienced an action packed roller coaster of laughter, cheers and tears. We’ve compiled a list of the five most shocking moments from Marvel’s latest ensemble film, but be warned – if you haven’t seen Avengers: Age of Ultron, spoilers follow.

Quicksilver’s Death

Quicksilver’s death was probably the most shocking moment of the entire film. Despite starting the film full of hate towards the Avengers (especially Tony Stark), he underwent a complete arc, realizing that the Avengers were fighting to protect the world and becoming a key component in their fight against Ultron.

The death harshly reminded us that anything can happen, even if the characters we’re watching fly across the screen are superior.

Mind Gem Revealed

It has long been theorized that Loki’s Scepter contained an Infinity Stone. Now, we have confirmation that it did and which one it was. When the scepter was cracked open, Ultron took the Mind Stone and implanted it into the Vision’s forehead. Not only was it a surprise to see one of the most powerful commodities in the Marvel Cinematic Universe revealed, but it also created a variation from the Vision’s comic book counter part.

In the comics, the yellow jewel in the Vision’s head is actually the Solar Jewel. It functions as a receiver of solar energy which gives the Vision the power he needs to function. After the mid-credits scene, we are left wondering not only how Thanos will attain all six Infinity Stones, but also whether or not the Vision will survive should Thanos take what he desires.

Baron Von Strucker’s Death

In Marvel comics Strucker plays a much more significant role as an antagonist to Captain America, S.H.I.E.L.D. and others. Strucker was briefly introduced during a post credits scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and quickly offed in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Although the Avengers weren’t the ones to take him out during their raid, Ultron sent a violent message to the team with a shockingly gruesome photo of Strucker dead next to “PEACE” written on the wall in what appears to be his own blood.

New Avengers Assembled

Throughout Age of Ultron, many of the Avengers had their differences. As expected, Captain America and Iron Man disagreed on a number of topics and even came to blows while debating over whether or not to bring the Vision to life. By the end of the film, though, it was surprising to see that Cap enlisted a new team of Avengers without Tony Stark, Thor, or Hawkeye. With S.H.I.E.L.D. dismantled, Stark wanting to go home, and Thor galaxies away, Rogers started the “Avengers Assemble,” call to his new team: Scarlet Witch, Falcon, War Machine, Vision, and Black Widow.

Hawkeye’s Family

Perhaps the most delightfully surprising moment came when the Avengers were facing their toughest peril. They had no choice but to hide and come up with a plan to stop Ultron, but where they hid revealed fantastic new details about a character who deserved a deeper exploration.

At the Barton family farm, Clint Barton (Hawkeye) revealed to the team that not only is he married, but he has two kids (and is expecting one more!). As saddened we felt by Quicksilver’s death, we were lifted up and filled with joy when we saw that Hawkeye manages to be a husband and a father despite being called upon to save the world from time to time.

Which moment from Avengers: Age of Ultron do you think was the most shocking?
