The series, which has three more episodes to air after this week, is currently on a production hiatus, and it scheduled to get back in front of the cameras in early July. That suggests that Smith’s next episode will take place before the midseason finale.
Following Smith’s Season Two episode, everyone from producers to the cast expressed delight at working with him, and hoped that he would return for more episodes next year. Smith, meanwhile, has a full docket of feature films coming up, making a labor of love like guest-directing an episode of The Flash something that he likely had to schedule out well in advance.
Smith’s first episode of The Flash, titled “The Runaway Dinosaur,” airs next Tuesday, May 10, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
