When Ben Affleck was announced as the next Batman in Hollywood, fans were cautiously optimistic about the news. Last year, the actor showed the world what his cowl was made of when he co-starred in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice alongside Henry Cavill, and he will make his theatrical return in Justice League. These days, fans are more interested in talking about Affleck and his future with the DC Extended Universe since the man is heading up a solo Batman flick. Now, the actor has hinted at how long preparation on the film may taken, and some fans will be taken back by the timeline.

Speaking with IGN, Affleck spoke to the site during promotions for his film Live By Night. It was there that the actor was asked about The Batman, and Affleck stressed he was excited about the project.
"I'm really excited. There's great stuff in it now. It just needs to get better and better," he said.
Affleck continued, comparing The Batman's prep with the work he did for Live By Night. "It's the same way I felt about this movie [Live By Night] as I was prepping it…but it took me a year plus to get this movie ready to launch. Hopefully it won't take me that long for Batman, but we're working. I think we're ahead of the curve, and we're excited."
Of course, fans are just happy to hear that the film is still moving along at all. Last year, rumors began swirling that Affleck would remove himself from the film if The Batman did not come together, but it appears like the Oscar-winning talent has sunk his teeth into the movie. Even if the film's slow-moving development does push back its release date, fans will be happy to know that Affleck stood his ground to ensure audiences got one of the best superhero adaptations they coud.
In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Ciarán Hinds, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons and Jesse Eisenberg.
