In her time as Wonder Woman, Diana has faced numerous gods, despots, and monstrosities. This time around the amazon finds herself in a battle that dwarfs all those this time around, however, as she fights a battle against her own mind.
Spoilers incoming for Wonder Woman #15, so if you haven't read it yet you've been warned.
In The Truth part one, writer Greg Rucka reveals a Diana unlike any version you've seen before. The hero you know and love is struggling to cope with last month's reveal that her memories are not the truths she assumed them to be, and it's led to a crisis of confidence and identity. Rucka constructs an interesting walk through this open vulnerability in Diana's psyche, and it forces some of the supporting cast into more leading roles. Etta Candy, Steve Trevor, and Barbara Ann Minerva all shine in various ways throughout the issue, and their story is equally as compelling as Diana's.
Rucka has a knack for these characters, but several of these sequences wouldn't have half the presence without the stunning visuals provided by Liam Sharpe. Whether it's that opening scene of isolation in her cell or that beautiful splash page depicting the fractured state of Diana's mind, this is perhaps his finest issue thus far. That isn't a small compliment either, as his previous work has been stellar, but he went above and beyond in issue #15.
The stories in the past and in the present don't seem as disparate as they once did, and it's getting easier to flow from one timeline to the next. Stil, the present storyline is by far the most compelling, and this is yet another great addition to the Wonder Woman canon.
