Netflix’s Stranger Things has become a pop-culture phenomenon, giving viewers a mix of nice throwback adventure (from the ’80s/90s movies of Amblin Entertainment), and some unique sci-fi mythos that included alternate dimensions, monsters, and psychic powers.
While the show used some simple, Dungeon & Dragons-themed language to explain its jaunts into a nightmarish alternate dimension, “The Upside Down” actually draws on some complex real-life scientific theory. So, to help explain that science, we turn to the pop-culture icon who handles such things: Bill Nye.

Nye has a new Netflix series called Bill Nye Saves the World, and as one of the promotional spots for the show, Netflix thought to do some in-house cross-promotion by having Nye break down the science behind Stranger Things’ Upside Down:
