On tonight’s Arrow, Oliver proved that Prometheus can’t shame him out of being the Green Arrow — and during a recent interview, showrunner Wendy Mericle told ComicBook.com that the man in the hood will still be spending his days at City Hall come 2016.

With Rene Ramirez (Rick Gonzalez) set to come in as a season regular next year, it seems there will continue to be at least two members of Team Arrow in the Mayor’s office. Will it be difficult for them to explain their frequent accidents, injuries, and how often they seem to be harassed or taken hostage?
“The mayor’s office has gotten really good at covering up all that stuff, but it’s a good question,” Mericle said. “I think we’ll be able to find story ways to skirt past that, but it highlights what’s going to be a central question for season 6, which is, how can he do both? We’ve played with that in the past in different ways before, but I think that the success of what he’s done in the mayor’s office and his ability to have impact is going to raise those stakes to a different level and hopefully create some great stories.”
Of course, in the past the “can I do both?” question has largely come up in regard to Oliver’s personal and romantic life — can he be both Oliver Queen and the Arrow? — more than his public responsibilities as mayor.
Whether that means shippers will continue to be disappointed as Oliver continues to prioritize saving the city over sorting his romantic life out remains to be seen, but whatever he chooses to do, he will apparently be doing it from City Hall.
Arrow airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
