While it might be awhile before fans see him onscreen, Darkseid’s world will still have plenty of influence on Justice League thanks to mother boxes, and fans got a great look at them at Comic-Con.

In the comics, mother boxes are devices used to generate boom tubes, pathways from one location to another. This is often used by Darkseid’s forces as a way to mass invade earth, but heroes have gotten ahold of them in the past as well. They typically all look identical in the comics and animation, but in Justice League, it looks as if there will be several styles of mother box.
As seen in some photos from Comic-Con (via ScreenRant), there are at least three styles of mother box in the film. There’s a red cubed ornately detailed version associated with the Amazons, a worn down version with a pointed design on the sides that seems Atlantean, and a golden box with pearl ornaments on it designated as a human mother box.
How each society or group got their hands on one has yet to be revealed, but expect it to play heavily into Justice League’s storyline.
You can find the Amazonian mother box below.
