The Shonen Jump originating manga Black Clover is getting the anime treatment, and Asta and Yuno are surrounded by some of the quirky characters you’ll meet when in a new key visual from the series.
For those who aren’t familiar with Black Clover, the series comes from creator Yuki Tabata, who launched Black Clover in the issues of Shonen Jump in 2015. The series has been quite popular since its debut, and in 2016 it was announced that Studio Pierrot would be bringing the world to life on the screen.
Pierrot is the same studio that brought fans Naruto, which bodes well for Black Clover’s chances at catching on. Crunchyroll will stream the series starting this October.
As seen in the key visual in the image above, the series revolves around two orphans named Asta and Yuno, both discovered at an abandoned church on the same day. In this world, everyone has access to some sort of magic, and while Yuno holds immense magical powers, Asta mysteriously has no magic to call his own. Both receive grimoires at the age of 15, and it is then that Asta gains the powerful Anti Magic that has the ability to destroy other magic.

Magical issues aside, Asta still competes with Yuno to achieve his dream of being the Wizard King, a spot only held by Clover Kingdom’s strongest Magic Knight. Will he succeed? Who knows, but it will surely be entertaining to watch him try.
Black Clover is directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, with composition by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, character design by Itsuko Takeda and Kumiko Tokunaga, and music by Minako Seki.
