Halloween is just around the corner, and when the season hits full stride it’s not uncommon to see vampires, ghosts, witches, and the like represented just about everywhere you go. Still, as popular as those are, few classic monsters are more popular than The Mummy, and Titan Comics is launching a new series based on the horror classic.

The Mummy #1 will be written by Peter Milligan and drawn by Ronilson Freire. While the franchise has seen numerous interpretations over the years, Titan’s book will forge its own path based on the classic tale. The Mummy revolves around the Sect of Anubis, who’s latest choice of vessel doesn’t plan on just accepting her fate like others before her.
You can read the official description below.
“For 2000 years the Sect of Anubis have prolonged their life spans through human sacrifice and the enslavement of an Egyptian High Priestess cursed to walk the afterlife for all eternity.
On one night every 30 years the Sect must offer up a human vessel to house the spirit of the priestess Nebetah so that they can kill her and drink her blood, thus granting them immortality.
But this year they have chosen the wrong vessel and she’s not going willinglyโฆ”
The book will launch with several launch variants from artists John McCrea (Cover A), Tom Mandrake and M.D. Penman (Cover B), Ronilson Freire (Cover C), Felix Ruiz (Cover D), Jeff Zornow (Cover E), Graham Humphrey (Jetpack Comics/Forbidden Planet Variant), and a blank sketch variant.

To coincide with the launch, the Art Model Collective and Titan Comics have joined up for a special Mummy themed life-drawing class at the Underdog Gallery in London. The event will take place on November 18, and will feature two models that include Carla as the High Priestess of Anubis and Manko as the Mummy Nebetah. After the event, fans can take part in a live Q&A with Milligan, editor David Leach, brand manager Chris Thompson, and Egyptologist John J. Johnston. You can find out more about the event here.
The Mummy #1 hits comic shops on November 9.
