A month after Leonard Nimoy passed away his son Adam announced that he would produce and direct For the Love of Spock, a documentary paying tribute to his late father. A film of that scale costs more than Adam planned for as he announced today that he is launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund it.
“The funding of this film through Kickstarter will enable us to continue with production โ which will mostly take the form of filming interviews of dad’s friends, colleagues and family members,” Adam Nimoy said. “It will also enable us to license the hundreds of film clips and still photographs of Mr. Spock as he has appeared on television and in feature films over the last 50 years.”

If the campaign reaches its goal of $600,000 it will be presented in 2016 to mark the 50th anniversary of Star Trek. If funded, it will be narrated by Zachary Quinto (Star Trek Into Darkness), who currently plays Mr. Spock in the rebooted movie universe.
