Is it morphin’ time for Sam Claflin?
We’ve heard from sources that the movie has begun initial casting and that the actor has shown up on a target list for the 2017 film. In addition to that, the actor best known for his role as Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games series, posted a rather powerful Tweet earlier this week. Declaring “Go Go Power Rangers”, Claflin may have confirmed his interest in the upcoming Power Rangers reboot film from Lionsgate Films and Saban. The tweet has since been deleted but we have a screenshot of it for you below.

Claflin as a Power Ranger certainly makes sense. He has the right resume (also starring in Pirates of the Caribbean, The Hunger Games and The Huntsman franchises), & build to play a mighty morphin’ superhero. Then again, Claflin’s age might disqualify him from portraying one of the main rangers if the studio is looking to cast relative unknowns who are younger. If the reports of a younger Zordon as the original Red Ranger are true, Claflin would make a ton of sense in this role instead of one on the main team.
We’ve reached out to Claflin’s representatives, Lionsgate & Saban for comment and will update this as soon as we hear from them.
UPDATE 7-30-15: We’ve heard back from Claflin’s team who are saying that Sam is in fact not a candidate.
