Justice League Rumored To Look Dynamite, Aquaman May Move Up

In the last year, things have been busy over at DC Films. The company has rolled out two blockbusting superhero flicks a la Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad, but they have failed to impress critics. While the films did score big at the box office, fans have been growing increasingly concerned about the state of DC Films' future. However, moviegoers shouldn't be too worried about the studio and its upcoming projects. In fact, it appears as if Zack Snyder's Justice League is dynamite - and that's just the start.

In a recent blog post, filmmaker and Hollywood reporter Neil Turitz shared his thoughts on the recent shake-ups at DC Films with The Flash. The anticipated blockbuster lost its director Rick Famuyiwa not too long after Seth Grahame-Smith exited the role. Turitz explained one of his sources at Warner Bros. said the studio was not all too concerned about Famuyiwa's leave.

"Sorry," the source told Turtiza. "We were too busy laughing about all the money we made on Suicide Squad to worry too much about this latest turn of events with a movie that isn't as high on our list of important projects. I mean, it's not like it's Aquaman."

Why wasn't Warner Bros. or DC Films worried, you might be asking? Well, it comes down to Justice League. Turitza alleged that the ensemble film looks dynamite and is "totally different from anything Snyder has done before."

Turitz also gave a well-deserved nod to Patty Jenkin's Wonder Woman which is set to debut next summer. He said that hype over the film is tracking high and that it "looks amazing."

The reporter also stressed that DC Films' impending release of Aquaman was also working in its favor. The swash-buckling film will be directed by James Wan, a veteran director whose films have grossed over $2.5 billion worldwide. When Famuyiwa is compared to Wan, the former's resume pales in comparsion; While his films such as Dope have been praised by critics, they have no dove deep into fans' wallets.

Rather than stressing over Famuyiwa's departure, Warner Bros. is adapting to the change - and that might mean a release date swap is in order. According to Turitz, there is already talk of moving up Aquaman's release date from July 2018 to take over The Flash's premiere in March. The move would give the latter film time to reorganize itself before production begins, and Aquaman would gain some streamlined press in the spring.

With Aquaman set to begin pre-production this month in Australia, the film is clearly better off than The Flash. With Famuyiwa gone, the film's shooting schedule will likely slow down The Flash. As ComicBook.com's Charlie Ridgely wrote, "With the movie scheduled to release in March 2018, there doesn't seem to be time for anything get finished. A script needs to be finished, a director needs to form a vision, the cast needs to be filled, and production needs to begin. There isn't time to make all these steps a reality before the release date."
