A couple years ago, just before filming was to begin on Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, former Batman Christian Bale ran into Ben Affleck at a Los Angeles store while they both were shopping for Halloween costumes for their children. Taking advantage of the opporunity, Affeck asked Bale if he had any advice for playing the iconic DC superhero, and The Dark Knight star told him to request a zipper for his costume. Bale “found it to be ridiculously unheroic” that he couldn’t go pee by himself.

Affleck has since thanked Bale for his “valuable, practical advice,” but Affleck is going to need more than a zipper to feel comfortable directing The Batman.
“I know what’s it’s like to be in the suit,” Affleck told USA Today while promoting new movie Live by Night. “We’ll have to modify the suit to make it a little bit easier to put on and take off. When you are in it, you can be sweating, crazy and exhausted, do your part and walk away. But when you’re a director, you can’t walk away. You have to be there for everybody. Chief among the challenges of doing Batman, will be finding a suit that’s more comfortable.”
