Wood’s past work includes The Vampire Diaries, Carrie Diaries, and Containment. He’s also set to recur in Season 2 of PBS’ Civil War drama Mercy Street as Lance Van Der Berg, a Union soldier who lodges at the home of the Greens and enters a romantic relationship with Alice.

Wood is just the major casting addition to Supergirl in its sophomore season. Teen Wolf star Tyler Hoechlin will guest star as Kara Zo-El’s often-mentioned cousin, Superman. Classic Wonder Woman TV star Lynda Carter will appear as the president of the United States. Cougar Town alum Ian Gomez will recur as Snapper Carr, the new editor-in-chief of CatCo Magazine. Floriana Lima will play Maggie Sawyer, a National City Police Captain with an interest in aliens.

After premiering in 2015 on CBS, Supergirl is jumping to The CW to join fellow DC Comics television series The Flash, Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. The network is billing a four-part crossover between all four series as part of its next season of superhero television.

Supergirl was developed for television by Ali Adler, Greg Berlanti, and Andrew Kreisberg. The series stars Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, Jeremy Jordan, David Harewood, and Calista Flockhart.

Supergirl Season 2 premieres Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
