Over the decades, a slew of Superman films have debuted and brought various directors into Hollywood’s inner-circle. From Richard Donner to Zack Snyder, a handful of visionaries have left their mark on the DC Comics icon, and it seems there is another man hoping to go up, up, and away with the Kryptonian native. During a recent online Q&A, the director Jurassic World 2 shared a touching story about Superman and threw his name in for consideration.

Over on Reddit, Juan Antonia Bayona took part in an AMA (Ask Me Anything) and answered plenty of fan questions about his work on A Monster Calls. It was there that someone asked the praised director if he as a dream film he’d like to work on – and he had this to say:
“The first movie I saw in my life was Superman. I was three years old. The first memory I had was Christopher Reeve flying in the suit. Directing a Superman film would be great. I always wanted to be Superman. That’s the film that made me want to become a director.”
Later in the AMA, Bayona revisited Superman and said the hero was the star of his favorite film ever. Referring to 1978’s Superman, Bayona said the move was “the first one I saw in my life and defines my whole career.”
The next time fans see Superman take to the big screen, it won’t be under Bayona. The hero is set to return to the DC Extended Universe later this year when Justice League debuts. Directed by Snyder, the ensemble flick will see Batman team up with Wonder Woman, Flash, and more as they take on a villain known as Steppenwolf.
In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroesโBatman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flashโit may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Ciarรกn Hinds, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons and Jesse Eisenberg.
