Warner Bros. managed to deliver a more cohesive product when they released Batman v Superman: The Ultimate Edition earlier this year, and it did successfully fill in some plot holes. Now the studio is doing the same with their most recent hit, Suicide Squad.

The trailer for the upcoming extended edition just dropped today, and while fans will have many things they want to see fleshed out and expanded, we’ve narrowed it down to 5 points of interest.

The Suicide Squad Extended Cut hits Digital HD on November 15 and Blu-ray on December 13.

Many were disappointed with the sparseness of Jared Leto’s Joker, especiallyย after the studio focused so much on his inclusion in interview and press.

Leto himself has referred to a treasure trove of footage that didn’t make the final theatrical cut, and hopefully some if not all of this ends up in the extended edition. Fans want to see more of Joker and Harley’s dysfunctional relationship, as the two commanded the screen everytime they were allowed to interact.

One of the more intriguing aspects of the character is his gangster-like approach to his business affairs, and more of that would be welcome as well.

Relevance For Boomerang

If there was one character who got shortchanged in both the screen time and relevance angles, it was Boomerang.

Many were pleased with Jai Courtney’s portrayal of the well-knownย villain, but while his personality shined his worth didn’t. There were few moments in the final cut that led you to believe he would be a top choice for a group like this. Sure he had a remotely operated boomerang and one explosive one, but that was about it. You’re more likely to remember him for his love of pink unicorns than his usefulness in battle, and that’s a shame.

Background Of Slipknot

Slipknot

Someone had to be the example, and unfortunately for actor Adam Beech, it was his character Slipknot who paid the price for rebelling.

As director David Ayer has alluded to, though, they did film a background reel for the character along with everyone else and decided to ax it strictly due to time constraints.

Fans would at least like to see a bit more camera time for the villain, even if it’s just to justify his existence on the team at all.

Harley Quinn’s History

Harley

Suicide Squad’s best moments are arguably anytime Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn is on screen, especially if she happens to be interacting with Deadshot. While she is a focal point of the film already, fans would hardly object to see more of her, and specifically jokes and sequences that weren’t already in the trailer.

In addition to more humorous moments, getting a bit more of Harley and Joker’s early conversations wouldn’t hurt either. It’s a pretty big jump from her first meeting with the character to then helping him break out of prison, and having some extra time to explore their early chemistry might help that not seem so abrupt.

Ben Affleck’s Batman

Fans knew that Batman would have a featured part in Suicide Squad, but it’s hard not to fathom that there are additional clips of the hero that didn’t make the final cut, namely of him interacting with Killer Croc.

That battle alone would be something to see, but the film could also benefit from additional scenes between the Dark Knight and Joker, Harley, and even Deadshot, where they actually show hints of the previous battles between them.

It would only help set the stage for future encounters in Affleck’s solo Batman film, which is aiming for a 2018 release.
