General Sam Lane has a history of not exactly being on Supergirl‘s side on The CW show. His arrogant, elitist, and self-righteous attitude often puts him at odds with Supergirl and the D.E.O. and it looks like that’s not going to change in the show’s third season.

Spoilers for Supergirl‘s season three premiere, ‘Girl of Steel’, below.

Near the middle of tonight’s season premiere, the D.E.O. tracks Bloodsport down to a nearby military base. Supergirl goes to investigate and upon arrival, some sort of weapon begins firing at are. After being briefly stunned, she gets up and uses her heat vision to stop what is shooting at here only to discover it’s a Daxamite warship with Bloodsport fleeing out a back door.

A Daxamite ship at a military base is not an accident and we quickly see J’onn yelling at none other than General Sam Lane. It seems that General Lane was holding onto one of the Daxamite warships and hadn’t let the D.E.O. know, which is significant for two reasons. One, since the D.E.O. is supposed to be the only agency with the alien tech, General Lane is once again overstepping — and J’onn lets him know that that’s a problem. But the bigger issue is that the Daxamite warship happened to have some technology on it of interest to Bloodsport. Bloodsport stole the cloaking device from the ship, giving him the ability to potentially conceal a nuclear attack on National City.

While General Lane probably didn’t have any plans quite that nefarious for the Daxamite ship, his hiding it from the D.E.O. — and probably the President as well — hints that he might be stirring up more trouble for Supergirl this season. Fans will just have to stay tuned to see what the not-so-good General is up to this season, which airs Mondays at 8/7c, on The CW.
