Sources close to the production say that Clemons will play west, a tough journalist and friend to Barry Allen (Ezra Miller), a.k.a. The Flash. Barry Allen and Iris West are one of the great romances of the DC Comics universe.

Clemons will be reteaming with Dope director Rick Famuyima, who is replacing Seth Grahame-Smith on the project. The Flash is still using Grahame-Smith’s screenplay, which was based on a treatment by Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

In addition to Dope, Clemons has also appeared in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, and will play one of the lead roles in Sony’s upcoming remake of Flatliners.

At Comic-Con International: San Diego 2016, Warner Bros. revealed the first official look at Miller as the Flash in the upcoming Justice League movie, and Barry was featured prominently in the first Justice League trailer.

Iris West is currently being played on the small screen by Candice Patton, opposite Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, on The CW television series The Flash. In that version of the story, Barry was become Iris’ adopted brother after his father was framed for his mother’s murder. Though the two have feelings for each other, they can’t seem to make the timing of their relationship work out.
