There’s also the issue of zoning. Injustice 2 puts a surprising amount of emphasis on ranged attacks, with zoners like Deadshot and Darkseid dominating the upper tiers. One of the quickest ways to become competitive in Injustice 2 is to figure out zoners, and we’re going to help you do that.
So, take a deep calming breath, scroll down, and learn how to beat top-tier Injustice 2 characters Deadshot, Darkseid, Supergirl, Black Adam, and Aquamanโฆ
Deadshot
Deadshot
Weak Against: Supergirl, Brainiac, Darkseid
Let’s start with the most controversial of the bunch, shall we? While debate still rages as to whether Deadshot is game-breakingly OP or not, there aren’t many who will deny he’s a very good character. And a very annoying one when controlled somebody who doesn’t mind spamming their way to a cheap win. Deadshot’s ranged attacks aren’t the most powerful in the game, but he’ll pepper you with projectiles until you lose your cool and start playing dumb. It’s up to you to avoid that.
Beating Deadshot is all about patience and control. You can avoid basically all his projectiles by ducking and blocking, so do that when he shoots, then inch forward. Bit by bit, you’ll close the distance, until he’s in range of your melee attacks and combos. If you’re playing as a flying character like Supergirl, you can also soar over his bullets. Once you get close, he’ll try to knock you back โ block, and when he’s left open, punish him. Once you’re in close, spam whatever combos you can so he can’t get out of range again. It’s not the flashiest way to win a match, but if you stick to your strategy, you’ll find Deadshot isn’t so unbeatable after all.
Of course, another way to neutralize a zoner character is to use another zoner, but that kind of goes without saying. This article’s tips mostly focus on how to beat zoners with non-zoner characters, because that’s where most players tend to get frustrated.
Darkseid
Darkseid
Weak Against: Black Adam, Black Canary, Deadshot
Darkseid is another zoner, using his powerful Omega Beams to keep opponents at bay. Unlike Deadshot, Darkseid is also strong as hell and can do close-quarters brawling, making him something of a double threat. Still, the technique for beating Deadshot largely applies to Darkseid as well.
Stay low, block, and move forward gradually to close the distance. If you want to get up in a zoner’s face more quickly, you can always burn some meter and use your forward roll move. Also, don’t be afraid to use all the tools at your disposal โ take advantage of interactable stage elements to throw Darkseid off his game and get in close. Once you do close the gap, Darkseid is relatively slow, so block and punish, then pummel him with combos.
Supergirl
Supergirl
Weak Against: Aquaman, Darkseid, Poison Ivy
The best female character in the game, Supergirl has a good assortment of moves that make her a frustrating opponent for those still finding their legs in Injustice 2. She has some good combs, can fly, teleport, and yes, can spam you with ranged heat vision attacks.
You may be getting tired of this advice, but play cautiously. Injustice 2 is a game that rewards defensive play more often than not. Keep your finger on the block button โ Supergirl will use a lot of air grabs and teleport moves on you, but if you block them, she’ll be left open, allowing you to land some bone-crunching combos. Basically, just let Supergirl come to you, and swat her down. Oh, and if she starts pulling that zoning nonsense with her heat vision, just use the same techniques you use to beat Deadshot and Darkseid.
Black Adam
Black Adam
Weak Against: Brainiac, Darkseid, Supergirl
While somewhat overlooked at first, Black Adam has been rapidly rising up the rankings, with many players now considering him the top overall character in the game. Black Adam can is impressively mobile, has good ranged attacks, and is crushingly strong. The guy can be very difficult to contend with when he’s controlled by somebody who knows what they’re doing.
Black Adam is one of the few characters on this list that you need to play aggressively against. If you hang back, he’s just going to walk all over you. You need to get up in Black Adam’s face, throw him off his game, and force him to do something unsafe. Black Adam’s moves are powerful, but some, like his dive kick, leave him at a major disadvantage if blocked. Dance like a butterfly, sting like a bee โ annoy Black Adam until he tries to smack you down with a big risky move, then block and punish.
Aquaman
Aquaman
Weak Against: Atrocitus, Black Adam, Poison Ivy
Aquaman is another character that’s undergone a major reevaluation. Originally considered a mid-to-low-tier character, Aquaman has been shooting up the rankings, and is now considered one of the game’s best by some. Aquaman is, overall, just a very balanced character โ he can zone, deal out heavy close-quarters damage, and he doesn’t leave a lot of openings.
But, like as characters, Aquaman has his weaknesses. He has a couple moves that hit from below (Tentacle Strike and the From the Deep combo) that are super annoying, but also relatively easy to avoid once you get the timing down. If an Aquaman player is spamming those moves, jump over them and close the distance, or block them, which will leave Aquaman at a disadvantage. Aside from that, just use your basic anti-zoning techniques โ cautiously move in, and punish Aquaman once you’re in range.
Hopefully these tips help! Remember, stay cool and wait for your openings โ no Injustice 2 character is unbeatable!
