Well here’s a surprise. Following the 1.05 update for Injustice 2, which addresses many bugs and balancing issues, Sub-Zero is now in the game. You won’t be able to play as him until he officially launches on July 11, but you can still check out his character model. Check out the following screenshot from Reddit:

We know it seems like a bit of a tease, but this could actually lead to a ton of really cool screenshots over the July 4 holiday leading up to his launch. Remember when Red Hood joined the Injustice 2 roster? Players were able to hover over him and see him decked out in all kinds of cool gear. In fact, if you look at Sub-Zero in the post above, you’ll notice that he’s wearing a cape that we didn’t see in his trailer, and his mask seems to be different as well; the tubes along the side and the spikes on the bottom are frosted or glowing.

If you haven’t seen Sub-Zero in action, then be sure to check out his introduction trailer above. While it’s still hard to tell what kind of character he’ll be for competitive players, we do see a decent number of combos and abilities. At first glance he definitely seems like a close-range fighter. It doesn’t look like he has many abilities that will push players back and keep them zoned, but he does have some mid-range disruptive abilities like his frozen shells and ice blasts.

Now we have a new countdown. We already had a countdown to July 11 when Sub-Zero beomces available to play, but now we have a new countdown to players from all over the internet capturing pictures of Sub-Zero in random gear and posting them for us all to see. When that happens, you better believe we’ll be collecting the best of the best to share with you here. Stay tuned!

Oh by the way, Ed Boon is teasing something having to do with the Injustice 2 story mode, so keep your ears open…
