Nintendo just updated its official Facebook page with an encouraging message to all of you who are looking forward to picking up a Super NES Classic Edition. Apparently the SNES Classic will be going up for pre-orders at multiple retailers, and Nintendo is promising that it will be producing and shipping these guys all year long. The official post stated the following:

“We appreciate the incredible anticipation that exists for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition system, and can confirm that it will be made available for pre-order by various retailers late this month. A significant amount of additional systems will be shipped to stores for launch day, and throughout the balance of the calendar year.”
So Nintendo is promising that a “significant” amount of additional items will be shipped for launch and until the end of 2017. Of course, we know that like the NES Classic Edition, when Nintendo is finished with the Super NES Classic Edition, they’re really finished. This one will be discontinued just like the last one was, so you better hope that by “significant” they mean “more than enough.” This thing is going to be hot.
This will come as a huge relief to many of you who previously believed that your pre-orders had been taken care of through Walmart. The retail giant accidentally listed pre-orders for the system weeks ago, and pre-orders poured in from all over the world before Walmart admitted it was a mistake. Everyone who ordered a system was later met by an email claiming that their orders had been cancelled.
If you want our advice, if you really want this thing, you owe it to yourself to err on the side of caution. Keep multiple tabs open from multiple retailers; keep an eye on nowinstock’s website; call your local GameStop regularly after mid-month comes and goes and ask them when you’ll be able to pre-order your console.
As soon as we hear back from retailers and lock down a pre-order date, we’ll let you know right away.
