Earlier this month THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games surprised the world by announcing Darksiders III, a game many fans thought they’d never see. The game, which puts you in control of the Horseman Fury, certainly looks like classic Darksiders, but there’s still a lot we don’t know about the game.

Well, Gunfire Games president David Adams recently revealed new details about Darksiders III in an IGN First video. We’ve seen this gameplay footage before, but the voiceover and info is new. For instance, Adams elaborates on the game’s new antagonists, the Seven Deadly Sinsโ€ฆ

“The primary antagonists in the game are the Seven Deadly Sins, and each Sin has its own unique area. Sloth is the first Sin you encounter, and he’s kind of a bug-like creature that lives in an area of the game we call The Nether, which is like, sewer, subway — anything beneath the city. And all the Sins have an influence on their realms. So, the area Sloth is in is being terraformed, and it’s all bug-ridden, with webs and weird egg sacs on the walls.

The Sins are these really powerful beings that the Horsemen killed and imprisoned, and the events of the Apocalypse afforded them the ability to escape. Fury is basically send to Earth to take down the Seven Deadly Sins and put them back in prison.”

Adams also spoke about Gunfire Games’ desire to create a more varied, naturalistic world this time around.

“One of the cool things we wanted to do in [Darksiders III] is we didn’t want everything to be horrific and destroyed. We wanted a lot more contrast visually. A lot of things in Darksiders were very brown and dark, and we really wanted to expand the palate of colors. One other cool thing, is we’re not really doing the ‘combat room’ thing, where you walked in and the door shut. We’re trying to think of more organic ways to include enemies. These guys have a purpose in the world this time around.”

Seems like thing are shaping up well! Even in its early alpha state, Darksiders III looks better than most other action-adventure games out there!

Darksiders III rides onto the PC, Xbox One, and PS4 sometime in 2018.
