This year at E3, Marvel and Sony fans were wowed by a 10 minute gameplay demo which showcased the latest Spider-Man game releasing exclusively on the PlayStation 4. This gameplay demo was mostly scripted and linear, featuring a visceral Peter Parker beating up goons and chasing after Mister Negative through the cityscape of New York.

It was an exciting slice of the game, one which showcased, from what we assume; one of many spectacular set-pieces which players will be able to swing through. However, while accurately demonstrating the combat and web-slinging featured in the game, many fans were left wondering how the game’s open-world would be utilized. Whether it would be one chock full of things to do, or would just be an empty vessel which would only serve as a mediary between levels like the one shown in the trailer.
However, swinging past these worries is developer of Spider-Man on PS4, Insomniac, as their Twitter account confirmed that players will be able to, in direct quotes “free-roam the city and do stuff.”
oh yeah, you can free-roam the city and do stuff. We aren’t getting in-depth on that right now, but it’s there!

While the statement is unspecific, it almost guarantees that the upcoming Open-World title will have side-content to distract you from the various rogues gallery which will most likely be pushing players through the main missions. Who knows, maybe we’ll be delivering Pizzas just like we were in Spider-Man 2 to this infamous soundtrack.
