A new League of Legends rune called Minion Dematerializer does exactly what the name might imply and allows players to instantly wipe minions off the map.

The innovative rune falls under the Inspiration rune path, an option that's quickly becoming characterized by its unique rule-bending runes. With Minion Dematerializer, players can use the rune to target certain minions and clear them from the Rift, earning gold, XP, and some permanent damage to minions along the way.

  • Killing Minions with the item gives permanent damage vs. that minion type.

Absorbing a minion initially will grant a larger damage boost against that minion, and each subsequent minion absorption will grant a smaller increase in damage to that minion type. Players can use it to focus one type in particular such as the hefty cannon minion, but melee and casters can also be targeted depending on your wave-clearing needs.

For those looking to take the rune and instantly clear an entire wave in an attempt to hit a quick level two ahead of your lane opponent, that strategy won't be quite as viable. The items used to poof the minions aren't active until the first 155 seconds of the game have passed, and they also have a cooldown between uses. The cooldown was previously 20 seconds between uses, but according to a tweet from Riot Wrekz that noted ongoing changes to the runes while they're on the PBE, the cooldown between uses has now been lowered to 10 seconds.

There are a couple of uses that first come to mind when considering who would take this rune, namely mages that might have some difficulty last-hitting under their turret without using abilities or prepping the entire wave before it reaches the tower. The extra damage boost would help prevent leaving melee minions with that last sliver of health, but later on, it'll also allow for the caster minions to be cleared much quicker, possibly after completing one item and using a spell. Split pushers will likely also have a field day with the rune, and champions like Singed or Malzahar with damage-over-time abilities will be clearing waves in no time.

Minion Dematerializer is currently a work-in-progress rune on the PBE, so the values and stats may change before it's released.
