Bummer. Maybe stick with the SNES cartridge for play and…this for show?)

It’s the 30th anniversary of the Street Fighter saga, and while we’re not exactly getting a new game to celebrate the occasion (like a Street Fighter Collection, which would really hit the spot right now, Capcom โ€“ wink), we are getting a re-release of one of the best games in the series.

The team at iam8bit has announced that it has partnered with Capcom to re-release the Super Nintendo classic Street Fighter II with not one but two limited editions, which can be played on the SNES. As you can see in the attached gallery, the game will have two different types of cartridges available, limited to a count of 5,500.

The first is a bright red cartridge that features the original Street Fighter II cover art, as well as 30th anniversary stamping. But it’s the other one that’ll get your attention โ€“ a green glow-in-the-dark cartridge that takes after the mighty Blanka. This will be the most limited of the two, and you’ll either win one or the other once you pre-order the cartridge.

In addition to the original game, the package also comes with a number of other goodies, including restored box art, a tri-fold box with foil, gloss and embossments, a premium instruction booklet, retro pack-in surprises that haven’t been disclosed just yet, and a package design and restoration by Jango Snow Art and Design.

The cartridges will be shipping out sometime in late 2017, and will be going for $100 at both the iam8bit Store and the Capcom Store. You can go ahead and get your pre-orders in now.

While getting the glow-in-the-dark green cartridge is probably going to be a longshot, it never hurts to give it a try. Plus, you’ll be getting a commemorative edition of Street Fighter II either way, so it’s something that you can add to your growing Street Fighter shrine.

For the rest of you, the game will be included with the SNES Classic Edition when it ships later this month, along with 20 other games. So no matter which way you want to play, you’ll be able to get your Street Fighter on.
