Twentieth Century Fox kicked off the viral marketing campaign for X-Men: Apocalypse with a video that treated the first mutant as the subject of TV documentary similar to Leonard Nimoy’s In Search Of…. Now the studio has pushed that marketing theme further, releasing Apocalypse’s historical timeline, and showing the effect he’s had on history.

Below is the timeline released by Fox, cleverly titled “The Ages of Apocalypse” (a little nod to Age of Apocalypse, the villain’s most popular comic book storyline). The timeline begins with Apocalype’s ascension in ancient Egypt, and attributes the fall of several ancient civilizations to him. The nature of these societal collapses often involve aspects of his Horsemen, such as war or pestilence. The timeline also references Clan Akkaba, Apocalypse’s cult like following.

Additionally, the X-Men Movies Twitter account has revealed a few artistic depictions of Apocalypse’s destruction, including the sinking of Atlantis.

Then another of Apocalypse’s Horsemen marching on the Mycenaean people.

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
