Disney has announced that the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2 will now just be one film. No date changes are planned for Infinity War, which is being released on May 4th, but the second part has been renamed "Untitled Avengers" on the official schedule (via The Wrap).

This fits in with comments made by the Russo's earlier this year, where it was acknowledged that the two movies would feel like completely separate films, and would not be a continuation of one storyline.

"The movies are very very different from one another," said Anthony Russo. "It's not a part one and part two scenario, necessarily. They're just two different expressions. I think it creates a misconception that we're shooting them at the same time."

That wasn't the only time they referenced a potential name change either.

"The movies are two very different movies," Joe told UPROXX.

"It is misleading," said Anthony.

"The intention is we will change it," Joe added, "we just haven't come up with the titles yet. But, yes, we will change it. And, yes, that is a scoop: we will retitle them."

Evidently they still haven't, as the second film remains untitled. That, or they just aren't ready to reveal it yet. Either way, it hasn't affected the movies themselves. Rather, Disney has managed to eliminate any potential confusion
