A brand new photo from the set of Avengers: Infinity War's untitled sequel has some speculating that a major death will affect Earth's Mightiest Heroes, but there might be more to it than that.
The photo posted by TMZ and Just Jared features Chris Evans as Captain America, and they speculate that it could indicate the Star-Spangled Avenger will be the one to bite the dust in the upcoming film.
TMZ posits that because this scene is being filmed for the fourth Avengers movie, it might mean that Cap survives the battle with Thanos. But they also suggest the scene is likely a flashback, meaning Cap could actually die, because he is wearing his classic costume from The First Avengers.
However, there are some other hints that that's not exactly the case. Specifically, his co-star Paul Rudd as Ant-Man adds another layer of intrigue.
Rudd is clearly wearing the new Ant-Man costume, and given where everything falls on the timeline, that would make this "flashback" the anachronism in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But the appearance of beardless, fresh-faced Steve Rogers does indicate something is afoot.
Mark Ruffalo joins him in his Hulk mo-cap suit, and Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark continues to wear SHIELD garb.

Even more interesting is all of the non-CG characters are wearing CG-reference dots on their costumes, meaning some measure of post-production work will be applied to their looks after filming.
Is this in the present day? A flashback? A pocket reality? Time-travel? It's hard to say, of course, because no one has seen Avengers: Infinity War.
But we can speculate (it's what we're paid to do!) and based on the present information, there are a few possibilities. Given the films are said to be loosely based on the Infinity Gauntlet comic, many of the Avengers could very likely be killed in one of the movies, only to be brought back with the powerful item as idealized specters.
Ghost Cap would definitely explain the old costume, as well as the CG references applied. Perhaps he'll have a ghostly sheen?
We'll learn more as production winds down and as the march toward the next Marvel Studios epic rolls onward.
