In a recent interview about the partnership with IMAX, Disney-ABC Television Group President Ben Sherwood also provided a firm released date for The Inhumans theatrical premiere event: Labor Day 2017.
Inhumans will run in IMAX theaters for two weeks before premiering on TV in September; it will be the first action film blockbuster to be filmed entirely in IMAX, which will definitely be a factor in creating the sort of “event” hype that will bring viewers to theaters.
Labor Day is a perfect window for the release. It will be a shining gem in the wasteland that is the late-August/early-September movie release slate, while still staying ahead of the fall TV avalanche. In other words, Inhumans wil be the only big pop-culture entertainment event in that window of time, which only boosts Marvel’s chances to score yet another trend-setting (and lucrative) milestone win.
The Inhumans will have its IMAX premiere in theaters for two weeks starting Labor Day 2017.
