New York Comic Con is about a month away, and among the various panels and events announced this week is one that sticks out to giant monster fans: the first full trailer for Pacific Rim: Uprising is coming to the show!

The event will take place at the Theater at Madison Square Garden, and director Steven S. DeKnight will be on hand to present.
DeKnight will be joined by stars John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Burn Gorman and Cailee Spaeny for a panel and presentation that will include the world premiere of the trailer.
“The follow-up to 2013’s cinematic epic of monsters and merits, the film will inspire a new generation to become the biggest heroes to ever walk the Earth,” says the panel’s description from the New York Comic Con website.
The panel, hosted by Syfy Wire’s Aaron Sagers, will take place on October 6 at noon ET.
Neither star Charlie Hunnam nor director Guillermo del Toro will return in their original roles from the first movie, although del Toro remains on as a producer.
“The timing started to suck. I had this little movie that I wanted to do — The Shape of Water — very, very much,” del Toro said. “At one point it was Justice League Dark or Pacific Rim, I said, ‘Let’s go to Pacific Rim.’ The reality is they said, ‘We’re gonna need to postpone,’ because they were changing hands—Legendary was going to be sold to China, to a Chinese company [called the Wanda Group]. They said, ‘We’ve gotta wait nine months’ and I said, ‘I’m not waiting nine months, I’m shooting a movie,’ and I went and shot [The Shape of Water] and we chose Steven DeKnight.”
del Toro has said he is pleased with DeKnight’s choices, but is electing to remain hands-off in spite of his obvious affection for the property (he recently said he still hopes he can one day make an animated series work).
