According to a new report from The Wrap, Diesel is in talks to star in Sony’s Bloodshot movie, based on the Valiant Comics of the same name.
Sony is now moving forward with its extended universe, based on the Bloodshot and Harbinger comic series. This new report states that the plan is to release five films in the universe, and that Diesel’s Bloodshot will play one of the lead roles throughout.
Diesel joins a familiar face on the project, as Fast & Furious producer Neal Moritz is producing the project, alongside Valiant’s Dinesh Shamdasani. Dave Wilson is set to direct the film with Arrival screenwriter Eric Heisserer penning the script.
The report also states that the Bloodshot film will try to add to the recent R-Rated success found with movies like Logan and Deadpool. Wilson’s take on the ultra-violent character will be “tonally and aesthetically influenced” by sci-fi films from the ’80s, including the likes of Terminator and Robocop.
Expect to hear more from the universe of Valiant in the coming years. The company has the third largest arsenal of superheroes, behind only DC and Marvel, but hasn’t yet made the launch into the mainstream media.
Sony is hoping to prepare Bloodshot for a 2019 release.
