Emily VanCamp, who plays Agent 13 in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” talked to MTV about her character’s role in the film and, potentially, in future sequels. One of the most interesting things VanCamp noted was that they never mention Agent 13’s last name in the film, meaning that Captain America doesn’t fully know who she is.”They’re just planting the seeds for this character,” said VanCamp. “Marvel likes to sprinkle little bits for the fans. Anyone who is a ‘Captain America’ fan will know that Agent 13 is Sharon Carter. The fact that Cap doesn’t know that yet is very interesting, and a fun little thing for them to play with.”Sharon Carter is the niece of Agent Peggy Carter, Steve Rogers’ love interest during the World War II era, as seen in “Captain America: The First Avenger.”In the comics, Rogers and Sharon Carter become a romantic couple. Will that same relationship play out in future ‘Captain America’ films?”I love Sharon Carter and Captain America’s relationship within the comic books, and there are so many different versions of that,” VanCamp said. “Where it’s headed, I have no idea, but I think it would be great if it gets explored.”In “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and battles a new threat from old history: the Soviet agent known as the Winter Soldier.”Captain America: The Winter Soldier” opens in theaters April 4, 2014.
