Disney and Google today rolled out a new immersive experience marketing campaign for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Fans can take part in the "Awaken the Force Within" campaign by visiting google.com/starwars, where they'll be prompted to choose between the Dark Side and the Light Side. Google apps will be altered to reflect this choice, and special experiences will be launched on Android Wear Watches, Google Calendar, Chrome, Chromecast, Gmail, Google Maps, Google Now, Waze and YouTube, plus additional features on Inbox by Gmail, Google Translate and Google Search.
On Dec. 2, Google and Verizon will launch a new virtual reality experience. The experience will feature a first-of-its-kind serialized Google Cardboard Virtual Reality (VR) experience, featuring never-seen-before content that ties into the opening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The experience was created by ILMxLAB - Lucasfilm, Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound's immersive experience lab.
The VR experience will launch in the official Star Wars app, available on Android and iOS devices.
Four custom Google Cardboard viewer designs, featuring Star Wars images, will also be available exclusively in Verizon stores beginning Dec. 2.
Check out when Star Wars: The Force Awakens and other movies are coming out in ComicBook.com's Movie Release Schedule.
