Some Infamous Genre Misfires Just Hit Peacock (And THIS Is the One That’s Actually Worth Watching)

Not every movie is destined to be a hit, and some films go down in history as complete misfires, even if they don’t deserve it. As the streaming wars continue and more and more titles find new streaming homes, many box office flops and critically panned titles are getting a second chance at success. NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock updates its content catalog with fresh TV shows and movies monthly, and September 2025 just brought some of the biggest genre misfires to the platform – from an action fantasy movie directed by Breck Eisner to a Sean Connery-led comic book adaptation.

September 1st, saw several misfires join Peacock’s streaming library, including The Last Witch Hunter (2015), League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003), The Scorpion King (2002), and Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant (2009), among several others. While some of these movies may be better left hidden in the trenches of Peacock’s streaming library, at least one film is worth revisiting: Director Stuart Beattie’s 2014 movie I, Frankenstein. The film tells the story of Dr. Victor Frankenstein’s immortal creation, Adam, who finds himself caught in a war between gargoyles and demons.

Why You Should Watch I, Frankenstein

I, Frankenstein was a flop in just about every sense of the word. With a worldwide box office of just $76 million against a production budget of $65 million, the movie was a massive box office bomb. It was also panned by critics and audience members alike, only securing a 5% critics’ and 38% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. But those stats shouldn’t dissuade you from watching the film, because for all of its faults, I, Frankenstein is still a great movie.

The film is a completely fresh and unique take on Mary Shelley’s 1818 Gothic novel that spins the classic tale into an action-packed fantasy and places the creature as an immortal superhero-like figure. Aaron Eckhart’s performance of Adam as a tortured, morally conflicted loner is incredibly compelling, and the rest of the cast brings standout performances as well. The movie’s visually striking special effects and elaborate set pieces help bring the fantasy world to life, and paired with adrenaline-pumping fight scenes between supernatural beings, it is a high-energy, entertaining watch from start to finish.
