With the New Year upon us, I'm taking this opportunity to work on self improvements and being a new and better me. After a little soul-searching, here on some resolutions I'm making for 2015.

1. I will no longer pass judgment on People the magazine or people in general for finally appreciating the flawlessness that is Chris Hemsworth long after I did. Even though "some of us" saw the obvious when he played Captain Kirk in Star Trek. No, not Chris Pine, but his father, Kirk Sr. Just saying.

2. Just because Game of Thrones is based on a series of books that are already published is no reason to blatantly post spoilers on social media after each episode and ruin the show for others. Especially if you've never read the books or watch the show yourself.

3. I will not ridicule casual DC and Marvel movie fans who have never read the series or picked up a a graphic novel.

4. Watching shows on the BBC is no excuse to act snobby or speak with a faux British accent to my fellow Americans.

5. The death of a beloved fictional character on a tv show is not a valid reason to take personal days at work for the grieving process.

6. When watching Sleepy Hollow, I will attempt to show more understanding to Katrina and Ichabad and less empathy towards the "villainous" Horseman. Of course if my best friend and brother-in-arms just revealed to me that he was planning on marrying my fiance and then asked for my blessing, heads would be rolling as well.

7. On a similar note, I will try not to root for Big Bads on Arrow. But the show did cast John Barrowman, Kelly Hu, Katrina Law and Manu Bennett in those roles, so what am I expected to do?

8. When bringing home a date, I must remember to understand that they may be shocked at my extensive library collection of graphic novels and action figures. I must also understand that they may be shocked at the shrine dedicated to the goddess known as Gina Torres.

9. I will remember that everyone is entitled to their opinion about fictional characters. Unless that opinion is Storm isn't the greatest fictional character ever because then they are factually, and morally wrong, wrong, wrong.

10. I will no longer think less of those who do not appreciate the brilliance of Joss Whedon. I will also no longer try to convince them of the error of their ways by "accidentally" forwarding them interviews, news articles, social media updates or "casually" bringing up his body of work in conversations.

11.  Having not watched Firefly, Scandal or The Fast & The Furious films is not an opportunity for me lecture others on their life choices.

Wow I feel like a new man already. Here's to an excellent New Year.
