Funimation Announces Winter 2017 Simulcast Titles

It is the start of the new year, and anime fans are gearing up for a rather exciting slate of shows. 2017 is expected to be one of the industry's best, and it is kicking off to a great start. In the coming week, a slew of anime series are set to premiere or make their long-awaited returns. And, now, Funimation has announced which titles will be a part of its 2017 winter simulcast.

"Winter announcements are here! We have been working together with Crunchyroll to bring anime to fans around the world!" the company wrote in a recently released statement.

"This Winter 2017 season, simulcasts of these shows with English subtitles will be up on Crunchyroll, and Funimation will be creating SimulDubs™ (English-dubbed anime), available on FunimationNow just 2-4 weeks (or even minutes!) after each episode airs in Japan! Stay tuned for more news about what else our partnership will bring!"

Of course, fans have been excited to see what the partnership between Funimation and Crunchyroll. The two confirmed they had teamed up to roll out even more anime to fans worldwide, and it looks like their goal is being met this winter. Funimation's much-anticipated simulcast list includes several sought after shows. You can check out the full list below:

For the 2017 winter simulcast, fans will be treated to something special when Akiba's Trip the Animation rolls out. Funimation has partnered with Japanese creators to release SimulDub episodes of the anime. This means that fully dubbed episodes of the show will hit Funimation half an hour after each airs in Japan.

"Going forward is going to be something new as well. We plan to continue working closely with our partners in Japan so that new SimulDub episodes for Akiba's Trip will launch as close to the broadcast time in Japan as possible. Right now, our goal is 30 minutes after Japanese broadcast time — the fastest launch of any SimulDub show this season!" Funimation wrote. "We're excited to try something new this season and will keep fans in the loop as we continue this journey together!"
