G.I. Joe 3 To Be Written by Shooter and The Devil's Advocate Writer

Jonathan Lemkin, writer of Shooter and The Devil's Advocate, will write the upcoming, third installment of Paramount's G.I. Joe franchise, set to bow in 2016, according to Variety.

Lemkin started his career in the '80s, writing episodes of Hill Street Blues and 21 Jump Street, before segueing into features. He's currently working on director Frank Marhsall's upcoming The Longest Night for Paramount.

Most of the cast of last year's G.I. Joe: Retaliation, including Dwayne Johnson and Adrianne Palicki, are expected to return with Lorenzo di Bonaventura producing. Jon Chu was originally expected to return as well to direct, but is instead working on Jem and the Holograms.
