Warner Bros. is planning an animated feature for Speedy Gonzales. Andale! Andale! Arriba! Arriba! Yii-hah!

Mexican actor, director and producer Eugenio Derbez will be voicing "The Fastest Mouse in all Mexico." He's best known for Instructions Not Included, XHDRbZ and La familia P. Luche.

"In Mexico we grew up watching Speedy Gonzalez," Derbez told Deadline. "He was like a superhero to us, or maybe more like a revolutionario like Simon Bolivar or Pacho Villa. He watched out for the little people but with a lot of bravado and a weakness for the ladies. I'm really excited to be bringing this character to the big screen. And besides being Mexican— my full name is Eugenio Derbez Gonzalez and I have big ears. The casting couldn't be better."

The super-fast, cheese-craving mouse has been featured in 46 Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies' cartoons since he was first introduced in 1953. Speedy Gonzales is known for wearing a yellow over-sized Charro, white shirt and trousers, and a bright-red red kerchief.
