Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has become the unofficial hype man for the Fast & Furious franchise, taking his massive social media following and turning it into a PR launch pad for Fast 8. This latest installment will see Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his crew moving their vehicular anti-hero antics to NYC, while The Rock’s lawman character, Hobbs, finds himself inside of a prison cell (for reasons yet to be revealed).

That prison sequence in particular has been a focus of The Rock’s recent PR push, with the actor/entertainer claiming that a prison fight sequence featuring Hobbs will be some of the most kick-ass action we’ve ever seen onscreen – let alone in the franchise. But as Johnson finishes the sequence – and apparently his time on set of Fast 8 – he’s hinting that the rage Hobbs has in this already-infamous prison sequence may not be all fake.

Check out what Johnson posted on his Facebook Page:

This is my final week of shooting Fast & Furious 8. There’s no other franchise that gets my blood boiling more than this one. An incredible hard working crew. Universal Studios Entertainment has been great partners as well. My female co-stars are always amazing and I love ’em. My male co-stars however are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right.

Bottom line is it’ll play great for the movie and fits this Hobbs character that’s embedded in my DNA extremely well. The producer in me is happy about this part. Final week on FAST 8 and I will finish strong.

Whoa… that’s a lot of serious shade being thrown at someone in the Fast 8 cast (or someones).

No idea what Johnson is referring to, or what has spurred this unusually harsh outburst from the usually composed star. One wonders if the specific mention of gender has anything to do with it? Johnson seems like chivalrous type who wouldn’t put up with any bad behavior toward female co-stars. Or, he could simply be praising the ladies in the cast for facing the challenges of an action movie shoot, while chastising certain male co-stars for backing down. Who knows for sure…

Fast 8 will be in theaters on April 4, 2017.
