New 'Halloween' Sequel Coming in October 2018 From Danny McBride And David Gordon Green

It's been a little under a year since Blumhouse announced that they'd be making the next installment in the Halloween franchise, bringing back John Carpenter to executive produce the sequel. The master of horror himself took to his Facebook page to break the news about not just who will helm the sequel, but also when you can expect it to land in theaters.
From his Facebook post:
"So you say you want a Revolution?
You want to shake things up and bring back Halloween and make it rock again?
Well so do I.
So here's the announcement you've all been waiting for:
David Gordon Green and Danny McBride are joining the project to complete the creative team. David and Danny will write the script together and David will direct. I will continue in my executive producer role to consult and offer my advice and feedback as needed.
David and Danny both came to my office recently with Jason Blum and shared their vision for the new movie and…WOW. They get it. I think you're gonna dig it. They blew me away.
I might even do the music. Maybe. It could be kind of cool.
And you'll get to see it in theaters on October 19th, 2018."
Ever since news was announced that the film would be happening, rumors started circulating about which up-and-coming director would put their stamp on the franchise, and this news came out of left field.

Gordon Green and McBride are known for their comedy stylings, previously bringing us Pineapple Express and the TV series Eastbound and Down, so this is mostly a new direction for the both of them.
McBride will star in the upcoming Alien: Covenant, so clearly this won't be his first experience in the world of horror, and Gordon Green has long tried to make a remake to the Italian classic Suspiria, so it looks like he'll try his hand in another beloved universe.
Carpenter teasing that he might do the music for the film would be the icing on the cake, as his scores for the films he directs has been just as memorable as the films themselves. If you picked up either of his two recent albums of original work, Lost Themes and Lost Themes II, you know he's still got the musical chops.
In addition to the filmmaking news, announcing the October 19, 2018 release date is also pretty exciting, as we really had no idea when this was coming.
