Today is actor Michael Cera's birthday.

Though known for his quirky and comedic roles, Cera is best-known to comic book fans as Scott Pilgrim from Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. Cera played the titular character in the 2010 adaptation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's popular graphic novels.

His next comic book role will be as Robin in the forthcoming LEGO Batman movie. He will also appear in the upcoming animated comedy Sausage Party from Preacher's Seth Rogen, and in the long-awaited third season of the cult hit TV show Twin Peaks. Little is known about his Twin Peaks role, but given the over 200 names on the cast list, it's likely to be fairly minor.

Cera's performing career started in 1999 when the actor, aged 11, started to appear in a number of minor roles. He actually appeared in Frequency in 2000 -- a film which is being adapted into a TV series this fall on The CW. After appearing in a number of children's TV shows and low-budget movies (as well as establishing himself on Arrested Development), he appeared in a 2006 episode of Veronica Mars, which dealt with campus rape. Cera would follow that with appearances on shows like Tom Goes to the Mayor before making the jump to feature films. In 2015, Cera appeared in Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp.

Cera has starred in a number of other famous films and TV series, including Juno, Superbad, Arrested Development, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, and Youth In Revolt.

Born in Ontario, Canada, Cera turns 28 today. Happy Birthday, Michael Cera.
