We all know by this point that our beloved (to most at least) Professor Snape was killed off by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. When this happened, Potterheads felt as if their favorite uncle died. Now, the mega-author has apologized for doing this on Twitter… and old pains are being brought up yet again.

Professor Snape was a half-blooded wizard who, in the beginning, seemed to despise young Harry. He was almost always on his case, but we eventually found out his genuine intentions for good. He then, for many, became a Harry Potter fan favorite.

While fans are having to go through this loss one more time (thanks a lot, J.K.!), another character’s death has also been brought up just to make the sting even worse. More on “him” later.

Rowling expects a lot of backlash from fans over this one, as they’ve always wished the character was still alive. In the tweet, she talked about running for cover and preparing for the fan reactions. And we know that this will set Potter fans off, big time.

We first had fans weigh-in on this being a much-needed plot point for this story. That sentiment being “although we loved him, he needed to die.”ย

Every story (especially a screen story) needs a tragic kill off like this. It deepens our love for the character because it rips our soul out after we’ve grown attached and made connections to that character.ย

Her followers then chimed in with the completely expected Hufflepuff comment. Come on, the Hufflepuffย trend train is old news and was never that cool in the first place.

Rowling’s followers can’t get enough of the back and forth action going down, thus proving how much of an effect Snapeย had on the Potter universe.

He was hated, but then loved by so many. Killing him off then bringing it back up is brutal. ย

Twitter user Kim also gave some good insight that will make you scratch your head and say to yourself, “Yeah, Snapeย needed to go.”

As her fans grabbed the popcorn, another character death came up that upset people even more…

It… it is just too hard to have to relive these deaths, right? J.K. might have apologized for what she did to Snape, but it brought back old, painful memories that we are now going to have to bury again.ย
