The first set photo from the upcoming Jumanji sequel surfaced online yesterday, and reactions have been quite mixed.

One particular aspect that has been the center of some backlash is the outfit of Karen Gillan, which features a Lara Croft-ish strapped halter top and short shorts. This wouldn't necessarily be shocking to anyone who's seen a film in the last umpteen years, but it stands out even more so when her three fellow castmates are decked out head to toe in jungle gear.

The Rock has teased that there is an explanation for the outfit which will be revealed in time, but that didn't seem to quell the questions, so Gillan has taken to her own Twitter account to give fans some peace of mind.

"Jumanji! Yes I'm wearing child sized clothes and YES there is a reason! The pay off is worth it, I promise! #Jumanji"

The theory is that she and Kevin Hart are possibly children who have been sucked into the world of Jumanji, and have been transformed into adult versions of themselves, thus the smallish clothes. Kevin Hart is already small, so the joke kind of makes itself.

If that is indeed the case, hopefully, it won't be her costume for the whole film, otherwise it does just seem like a lazy retread of "let's get this female character into as little clothes as possible" for no other reason than "well, why not?"
