Perez and Teague were playing Pokemon GO in South Houston (via Bored Panda). During their hunt, they happened upon a cage that had been abandoned, which contained 20 hamsters and 7 mice. No telling how long the cage had been there, but the Texas heat certainly wasn’t an accommodating environment for the little guys and gals, and their cage had no water or food either.
Perez and Teague took the cage home and gave the animals water, food, and bedding, and thanks to their efforts all 27 made it through. Fittingly, each one was named after a Pokemon, including Zapdos, Articuno, Mew, and Raichu. After they were nursed back to health, the animals were handed over to the Houston SPCA. No previous owners stepped forward, so now the group is up for adoption.
With all the crazy things that have happened since the Pokemon GO craze started setting in, it’s nice to see a heartwarming story like this. While they didn’t catch any Pokemon, Perez and Teague made a huge difference in a lot of little lives that day, and that’s got to feel pretty good.
