While Rhodes has been making his rounds in the ring, he also considers himself to be a rising Hollywood star.
Earlier this year, we saw Rhodes on DC’s Arrow alongside of Stephen Amell. He played the villian of the week in Season 5, Episode 3. In “A Matter of Trust”, he played a drug dealer named Garret Runnels who served as the first challenge for the new Team Arrow.
Although Rhodes is clearly a fan of the DC Universe and hopes to return to the Arrowverse sometime soon, he’s also a big fan of Marvel’s Inhumans, in particular Black Bolt.
In an interview with Bleeding Cool, Rhodes named Inhumans leader Black Bolt as “one of the best characters in all comics. The idea that a simple, spoken word could blow a room up is justโฆ I dig everything that is Black Bolt.”
When asked if he was interested in playing Black Bolt on the upcoming Inhumans television series:
“I will fully disclose that I have been actively pursuing a couple of roles, that being one,” Rhodes said when asked if ABC knew he was available. “I now have uprooted, moved to LA, to look into acting more, especially after the Arrow episode. So that would mean the world to me if that were to happen. And we’re actively looking into it. I’m all about it.”
Not only is Cody Rhodes a fan of Black Bolt, but based on his comments he is also pursuing the role!
Inhumans will debut its first two episodes in IMAX theaters before premiering as a regular TV series on ABC.
“So far, we know that Inhumans will focus on the royal family characters from Marvel Comics; will be the first big property to be shot entirely in IMAX; and will follow Marvel Comics lore by being partially set on the moon.”
But…what ever happened to Vin Diesel playing Black Bolt?
Inhumans will premiere on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, and is expected to run eight consecutive episodes – which would set the finale on Tuesday, November 14, 2017.
