The fifth-season finale of AMC's The Walking Dead will be directed by special effects guru Greg Nicotero, who also directed this year's premiere, according to a photo snapped on set by Boom Operator Robert K. Maxfield.
The photo shows the clapboard for episode 516, identifying Nicotero as the director and Michael Satrazemis as the camera operator for the week.

Maxfield also revealed a comic book-inspired shirt distributed to members of the visual effects and makeup crew by Nicotero at the end of filming for the season:

Nicotero being an "in-house hire" is a way of ensuring visual and stylistic continuity, and also creates one less person who knows whatever big revelations, character deaths, or other juicy stuff might come out of the finale.
