The Star Wars animated series are a hit among most fans, though they remain slightly isolated experiences from the main films. But that all changed with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Of course Clone Wars character Saw Gerrera had a huge part in the film, but eagle-eyed viewers noticed a couple of Easter Eggs confirming the presence of the Ghost, the ship used by the main characters in Star Wars Rebels. Their droid companion Chopper even makes a minor cameo in another scene.
While speaking with ComicBookMovie, Marshall said seeing the ship her character has piloted for three seasons on the big screen was a rewarding experience.
"Fantastic, I almost started crying. I had to remember I was in a public place and had to contain myself," Marshall said. "I thought I was losing my mind and started asking, 'Did that really just happen?' I went to see it a million times and every time, I was just blown away. It's good to know that she still exists at that point, so that's a good thing, but also being such a huge fan of every Star Wars film that's been released, having a character I've played in an animated series be mentioned...it was really rewarding."
When asked if there's a possibility for her to play Hera in a live-action capacity in a future Star Wars movie, Marshall remained positive but is committed to the best portrayal of the Phoenix Squadron leader.
"Of course! Who knows, if she can serve the narrative, it would be awesome. It would be great to see her on film and it was incredible to see Saw Gerrera come to life," Marshall said. "I loved Saw in the Alderaan arcs in The Clone Wars and was so thrilled they took a character from the animated series and transitioned him into live-action to play such a pivotal role. If they did that with Hera, that would be magnificent but it's all about what serves the narrative and not necessarily just let's give Hera a cameo. I bow down to the overall journey at hand and I really can't wait for the movie [The Last Jedi] to come out in December and I'm so excited. That's really what's keeping me going."
You can see Hera's latest adventures in Star Wars Rebels Season Three, available on Blu-ray and DVD this week.
This animated entry in the "Star Wars" franchise fills the gap between the events of "Episode III" and "Episode IV." Imperial forces occupy a remote planet and are ruling -- and ruining -- its inhabitants' lives with an iron fist. A clever, disparate crew aboard the starship Ghost takes a stand against the Empire, facing new villains and colorful adversaries. The rebels on the Ghost include leader Kanan, ace pilot Hera, feisty heroine Sabine, tough guy Zeb and 14-year-old con artist Ezra.0comments
