Heading into the episode, it’s pretty clear that a battle is about to erupt at the gates of Alexandria. Rick has finally decided to fight back against Negan‘s rule, and he’s built up an army of his own. After forging alliances with The Kingdom, Hilltop, Oceanside, and the Scavengers, it looks like Rick and the gang are finally ready for the war they’ve been talking about for so long.
If that indeed happens in the finale, and Rick overtakes Negan on the battlefield, will he kill the villain? Rick wants nothing more than to rid the world of Negan, and Dwight has also expressed his desire to end the man’s life.
Let’s be clear – If Rick’s army takes over the Saviors, Rick will kill Negan.
With that in mind, it’s safe to say the war won’t end in this finale. In fact, it will probably only begin.
In the comics, the All Out War lasts for 12 issues. There are multiple battles, plenty of casualties, and plot twists hiding around every corner. When Negan visits Alexandria for that initial battle, it kicked off the entire saga.
So, there’s a lot more story to tell in regards to this epic war. If Negan died here, the story would be over.
You can bet that the villainous character will suffer some kind of defeat in this episode, but he will return with a vengeance in season eight.
