The Walking Dead: Fans Start Petition To Give Andrew Lincoln An Emmy Award

Fans of The Walking Dead can't seem to agree on much regarding the show's horrifying season seven premiere. Some think it was too violent, while some think it was the perfect episode. Certain audience members think the show is heading in an odd direction, while others can't wait to see where it goes next.

One thing we can all agree on, however, is just how well Andrew Lincoln portrayed Rick's descent into brokenness.

Throughout the entire episode, Lincoln continued to demonstrate his acting prowess, and really drove home the messages of despair and hopelessness that the show was striving for.

Not only did the actor perform to the best of his abilities in the premiere, but he has been doing a stand-up job in the role for the last six years. Fans are always surprised by Rick's emotions and he has seemingly raised the bar as the character gets darker with each season.

While fans recognize the hard work and talent of Mr. Lincoln, he has yet to be rewarded with and Emmy Award. The most prestigious accolade in the television industry has escaped Andrew for years, and many Walking Dead lovers are saying enough is enough.

Recently, a petition has been started to get Andrew Lincoln nominated for an Emmy.

Once the petition reaches 2500 signatures, it will be sent to the official Emmy board for review. At the time of writing this article, 2189 fans had signed the document.

While this petition, no matter how much support it garners, won't affect the actual results of the Emmy nomination process, it will show the voters how important Lincoln's performance is to the audience.

If he's impacting people deeply enough that they feel the need to begin a petition, why shouldn't he be considered for some hardware?

If you'd like to get in on the action and sign the petition, you can find it here.
